Whether it’s your wedding, a photo shoot, or a special event, showing up prepared for your hair and makeup appointment can make all the difference in how your final look turns out — and how long it lasts.
Think of this as your ritual of self-care before the transformation.
🌙 The Night Before
Your preparation actually starts the day before your appointment. Try to get a good night’s rest and stay hydrated — your skin reflects everything you put (or don’t put) into it. Avoid trying new skincare products or masks right before your service, as they can sometimes cause irritation or unexpected texture.
Dermaplaning 48-72 hours before, helps prep the skin for makeup, and leaves a smoother area on your face- making blending an easy dream! Plus, you won't show any peach fuzz or say "Why do I have a moustache?!" ... Powder will ALWAYS pick up hair!
If you plan to have your brows waxed, tinted, or shaped, do this at least 24–48 hours beforehand to avoid redness or open pores during your makeup application.
This is also a great time to gently exfoliate your skin. Use a mild scrub or exfoliating pad to remove dry skin and help your foundation glide on seamlessly. The goal is soft, smooth skin — not redness or sensitivity.
🌞 The Morning Of
Arrive with a clean, moisturized face and freshly washed hair (even day-old hair works- TRUST me!) Skip heavy serums, SPF, or oils — they can interfere with product adhesion and cause unwanted shine or slip.
Wear a button-down or zip-up top. This one’s non-negotiable! You’ll thank yourself later when your flawless hair and makeup stay intact as you change into your outfit.
If your hair will be styled, make sure it’s fully dry. PLEASE let us know if you have a lot of hair, or need help with any sort of extension, so that we can plan accordingly. Lightly brushing it out and avoiding heavy oils or leave-ins will help us style it with ease.
☁️ The Energy You Bring
This part might surprise you — but your mindset matters just as much as your prep. Take a deep breath, release the day, and give yourself permission to just be. Remember baby, YOU'RE the main character today.
When you arrive calm, open, and trusting, the energy shows in your finished look. Your appointment is more than just glam — it’s a moment to reconnect with yourself and embrace how beautiful you already are.
🪞Final Touch
Following these simple steps ensures you’ll get the most out of your time in the chair and walk out feeling confident, radiant, and ready for whatever’s ahead. At Truth Be Told, it’s not just about the makeup — it’s about the experience, the intention, and the art of showing up as your most authentic self.
We're honored to glam you, don't forget to honor yourself!
